Description
You might be wondering what I mean when I say Smuggler's Notch and autumn dangers. The dangers are many, and as much from fellow drivers as the beguiling beauty of the Notch itself. People commute through the notch each day between Jeffersonville to Stowe, at least during the late spring to early autumn. They know the turns and don't slow down coming round those turns. Then you have the leaf peepers. Their rapt attention is skyward, looking at the tapestry of fall colors that runs up the side of the valley walls. The same foliage seekers will stop in inadvisable locations and get out to snap a fall foliage photograph of the autumn colors. If they were smart they would drive up to a parking lot and then follow the trails to get vantage points of Smugglers Notch.
